I went back and forth several times before I decided whether or not I would put up my name and biography on this page. At first I thought most of you reading my blog already knew who I was, but I've come to the conclusion I should put it up anyway.
In my real life I'm a reporter-editor in the business department of The Canadian Press national news agency.
I've worked for The Canadian Press pretty much since graduating from Ryerson University, but have moved around a fair bit. I've spent time working in the sports department handling agate, the Ontario desk covering general news, CP's online service, as a business reporter in Toronto and Vancouver.
I started blogging when I was in Vancouver, but now I'm based in Ottawa. It began as just about food, but now I have three sites. The original about food, another about the planning of my wedding and a third, my photo blog. A picture a day.
Online, you may find me mostly lurking on the eGullet Forums under the same of Sushi Boy. Why I picked the name, I'm not sure, other that I like sushi. If you haven't checked out the forum, I'd suggest you do.
When I started this page I joked with a friend that it was practice for when I became the food writer for the New York Times. But honestly, I'm not sure that's a job I want. Writing about food is something I've just started to do for fun. I don't much want it to become like work. We'll see how this goes.
I love eating good food. It really doesn't matter what it is, I think simple can be and often is amazing. so check back frequently, and if you have any suggestions of where I can get a great meal send them to me., as long as it's good. There is little in the world that I find more disappointing than a bad meal. So what I'm going to try to do in my little corner of the Internet.
