    Dollarton Crab Shop

Crab_shop_signs Fish and chips is one of those meals I can never get often enough. Well, maybe I could get it too often, because then I would become 300 pounds and die of a heart attack, but I really love fish and chips. So when my friend Joanna told me earlier this week that the fish and chips at the Crab Shop in North Vancouver were good I had to try them. So on Saturday I headed over to North Van to meet Joanna for lunch at the Crab Shop. It used to be called the Crab Shack and sells really great live and cooked crab at some of the best prices in town. Competitive with T&T. But it burned down I think it was a couple of years ago and I was told that it reopened only a couple of months ago. The new location is in the same spot, but a little bigger and now with a deep fryer so they can sell fish and chips. Really good fish and chips.

Crab_shop_cod_and_chips They offer cod, halibut and salmon. I had the two-piece order of cod and chips and wished I had ordered more, maybe tried the salmon. It was really good. What set this apart from other fish and chips I've had was the batter. It had this lemony pepper taste to it. If you look carefully at the picture I think you can see the little flecks of black pepper in the batter. It might be easier if you click on the image, it will pop up a bigger version of the picture. It also had came with a dill sauce instead of tartar sauce. The dill flavour was great. Perhaps better than tartar sauce. I think the lemony pepper batter might be good with the salmon and chips, but since I ordered the cod I didn't get to try it. I'll definitely go back and try the halibut and salmon and chips. The downside is they close at 6 p.m most nights and 7 p.m. on Fridays, so it will likely have to be a weekend lunch thing for me. A little treat when I go to buy fish and crab there.

    We have to go here!

I went back on the weekend to get the family pack. I didn't know that the $23 includes 9 large pieces of halibut ($21 for cod and $25 for salmon) with a large chips. This could be the greatest deep fryer deal in the city.

I wish you could mix and match the fish in the 9-pack.

The crab shop fish and chips family pack is with 6 peices of fish, I love the place and the fish and chips r worth trying

I love your fish & chips. Any fish and chip lover would definiately have this place in their books. It's to die for !!!

I agree the Crab shack food is fantastic, but the lady is so mean! If you call for pick up she hardly gives you time to ask for a 2 piece before she cuts you off rudely, and forget asking for anything else. I know I would go a lot more often if they made you feel a tiny bit welcome..
