I know this is a day late, but when I arrived home yesterday I was just too tired to post. I went over to my parents to cook for Mothers' Day this year. Last year they came over for dinner and I cooked hot pot, but this year I took food over their to cook. I forgot to take pictures of everything we ate, just the crab, but you get the idea. We started with a big platter of crab. I picked them up from T&T. They had them on sale so I bought three of the big ones. Each probably three pounds. I boiled them and then chilled them. Very simple, but fantastic. From there we moved on the barbequed chicken that I did on their Weber kettle grill with mesquite wood chips. I love slow cooking over the charcoal with lots of smoke. I probably made a little too much. There were six of us and I did three big crabs, three smaller free-range chickens and a whole pile of grilled eggplant and zucchini. Dessert was the scaled down version of the gingerbread pudding from the Hamilton Street Grill. Also very good, but I think I should have made the full-scale version of the cake. I think it loses something when it is scaled down.
