Pictures

So I've posted up virtually everything I have on my flickr, but I still want more. So if you have pictures from the wedding, I'd love it if I could get copies of the files. I'm trying to accumulate as many as I can even before we get our pictures from the official photographer. I'm looking for original files. The highest resolution that you can send me. Maybe email isn't the best. So if you could burn them to disc and mail it to me I would love that. Or if you're in Cordele, maybe I could get the files from you when I'm there at Christmas. I'm starting to put together a photobook, and I'd love to include your pictures, especially if you captured a moment that you haven't seen on the flickr site. So drop me an email if you have pictures and we'll figure out the best way that I can get them from you.

We're Married

So, we're married. I'm not going to post much right now as there are things I'd rather be doing than blogging. But I have started to post up pictures on Flickr, so  head on over to that site and you'll find lots. I've also posted up many pictures that my friends and family were generous enough to share with me so far, so you'll get lots of points of view of the wedding. And if you did give me copies, you will likely find them in the friends and family section. Have fun looking. It was one helluva party they threw for us here in Georgia.

What I'll be Wearing - Suit

And here's what I'm sure you've been waiting for. The suit. It is a single-button, peak lapel, single vent tuxedo. With satin lapels and my favourite part, the surgeon's cuffs. I have actual functioning buttons on my jacket sleeve. I'm very happy with it. I wore it to Daphne's fall gala a couple of weeks ago and loved it. It fits so well, mostly because it was made the measure. It is not a Canali as the hangar might suggest. It is Coppley. I had a suit made last year and it fit so well that when it came to getting a tuxedo I really wanted to do it again. I kind of wish it had a bold coloured lining, but I didn't really have that option. Instead it is just plain black with a little bit of texture. I'm very happy with it. I would encourage you, if you have one to wear it to the wedding if you want. I love wearing mine and am totally giving you an excuse to wear yours if you have one. And if you were wondering, that's Daphne's dress in a garment bag hanging on the other side of the closet door. As I've mentioned before, it is a Nicole Miller dress that she bought in Vancouver. I have very carefully avoided seeing it so far. She has also bought a veil to wear that I have seen. It is very long. Kind of like a train unto itself. It will be great.

What I'll be Wearing - Shirt and Tie

So here's my shirt and tie. I'm going with a traditional pleated shirt with a regular collar. I'm not sure about those wing tip collars. I prefer the more traditional look. That and black bow tie. A bow tie that I will tie. Not some clip on job. No. Why would you wear a clip on tie when you can wear a proper bow tie that you can then untie at the end of the evening and look like a member of the Rat Pack. Frank would not wear a clip on. Dean would not wear a clip on. And while he wasn't a member of the Rat Pack, Cary Grant would definitely not wear a clip on. If you're going to the trouble of dressing for a formal event why would you wear a clip on tie. That's just crazy talk. People talk about doing the knot on a bow tie like it takes years of training with the Shao-Lin monks. It really is pretty easy and any decent men's shop will show you how. Dressing for a black tie event is all about looking cool and there is nothing cooler than at the end of the night casually tugging at one end of the tie and having it elegantly fall untie. Clip on. Not cool.

Weather Saturday

The latest forecast is for a high of 75F and a low of 45 at night. We're looking good. Dress appropriately. It looks right now like we won't have to use our back up location. Wish us luck on that.

What I'll be Wearing - Shoes

So this week, I'll be previewing what I'll be wearing at the wedding. I'm going with DML's advice and not getting married in rented clothes. With all due respect to those who have, I'm just not going to do it. So I'm starting with my shoes. They should be a bit of a giveaway to what the rest of the week has in store as they are black patent leather shoes. Made by Donald Pliner, I bought them at a wicked Boxing Day sale last year. I found a fantastic deal that I could not pass up. I've worn them on a couple of occasions already, and I love them. They are so comfortable. Really. So comfortable. They fit my foot very well and have some sort of cushy gel sole. Love them. Love them in the same way women love their favourite pair of shoes. They will be fantastic for the wedding day, as I will likely spend most of it on my feet, unlike Daphne who will be wearing three-inch heels and is worried that her feet will swell and hurt. But I'm sure she will look great and the three-inch heel will help us not look like one of those crazy couples where the groom is a foot and a half taller than the bride.

On Our Way

We are packed and ready. We are on our way to Cordele. If any of you need to get a hold of me, changed my cell phone plan so that I can use it without paying the outrageous U.S. roaming charges. Weather Forecast for Nov. 1

So, growing up in Vancouver I rarely paid much attention to the weather forecast. In Vancouver, it is pretty easy. In the summer it is 20, chance of showers. In the winter it is 5 and chance of showers. It's really easy. Just prepare for rain every day and you'll be fine. So I never paid much attention to the weather. In Saskatchewan, the weather was all people paid attention to. I guess that's what happens when the province is mostly farms and the weather will dictate whether you will be able to pay your bills or not come winter, but still I just expected it to be cold. But this week I've been watching the weather closely. Everyday. Long-range forecasts I'd previously dismissed as no better than throwing darts at a board I'm putting great faith in. Right now the forecast I most like to believe is the Weather Channel which is predicting a high of 71F and a low of 53F and most importantly a zero per cent chance of rain for Nov. 1. Oh, and sunny. A perfect day. If we get that I will be so pleased. Wish us luck.

Where the Magic Happens

So here's where it will go down. The ceremony at least. In the state park across from where Daphne's parents live this is were the ceremony will take place. What is a little bit obscured by the trees is Lake Blackshear. You in the audience will be facing the same direction as this picture was taken. From where I'll be standing I'll be able to see water and a longer distance through pine trees. And probably your parked cars. Daphne wanted to do it at that spot because she always felt like she was far away and you can kind of see over the lake. Her childhood and her mother's sort of centre around the park, which is across the street from Daphne Lodge. The land is pretty flat in Georgia, not Saskatchewan flat, but Ontario flat, so any sort of a rise feels a bit like a mountain and gives you a bit of view. So when you get to that spot, you'll know you're at our wedding. Though I suspect the rows and rows of chairs might also be a hint. One week to go.

Time to Go to Georgia

The weather report today said it was three degrees below zero this morning, with the wind it feels like five below. It's definitely time to get out of Ottawa and head for Georgia where we are expecting weather in the low 20s. For you Americans that means in the 70s. We are hoping that the wedding is going to be outdoors, so dress appropriately. It might cool off at night a little. As for how to dress, to put it this way my Dad has bought a suit. For those of you who know him, you know what that means. He's informed me that he spent more on the suit than he was planning on spending on new wheels for his bicycle. When I called him on that though, he said he had found a very good deal on the wheels. So probably not more than the full retail price for the new wheels for his bike, just more than he was planning on spending. But what this comes down to is that you'll get to see Dave in a suit and I can't remember the last time that happened. Really I can't. He had a navy blue blazer he used to wear occasionally, but a suit. I can't remember. Myself, I'll wear black tie.
