Daphne's Mom asked me to post up a notice to anyone who might be planning to golf on the day of the wedding to make sure they get an early tee time as to have plenty of time to finish their round and make it to the wedding. Lake Blackshear has a golf course, so it would be easy if you're staying at the resort. Green fees are US$27 according to their website, plus $13 for a cart. The course opens at 8 a.m., so you should have plenty of time to finish your round, though I'm not yet sure about the precise time for the wedding. It will likely be late afternoon. I don't golf, so if you were hoping to get in a round with me before I get married, you're out of luck. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do for the day of the wedding. I'm thinking of bringing my bike down from Ottawa, so maybe I'll head out for a ride if you've got a bike.

Hotel Booking Details

So, as promised, here are the specific details on hotel bookings if you are coming to Cordele. Daphne's Mum has had a block of rooms and cabins set aside at Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club. She has had both Villas, which I have been told are the same as rooms, and cottages, which include two bedrooms, one bath, complete kitchen, fireplace, large screened porch with rocking chairs and outdoor grill and picnic table. Daphne has told me they are kind of rustic, but if having a kitchen and a place to cook is important to you, then they might be the way to go. The rate is $119 a night for the villas and $169 for the cottages. There are taxes and fees of about 10 per cent. To make a booking at that rate you need to call 229-276-1004 and ask for the rate for the  Burt-Wong Wedding Group. The group booking reference is #91102. If you are calling from within the United States you can use a 1-800 number and it is 1-800-459-1230. To get the rate you need to book for two nights as it is a weekend. The other hitch is that if you have to cancel your booking, you need to give 30 days notice. You have until Sept. 16 to make a booking at that rate, but don't wait until the last minute as they will only let has hold so many rooms and as people make bookings we can put others on hold. There are other options as there is the usual assortment of usual motels out by the Interstate, but they won't be as easy. Hope that helps and we're looking forward to seeing you all there.
